Mission Statement
The purpose of NBASA is to foster the physical, mental, and emotional growth of amateur youth in the New Bern area, regardless of race, gender, religion, color, ethnic heritage, or ability through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition by establishing programs and activities that focus on the development, promotion, teaching, and administration of the game of soccer.

Soccer Scholarships

 North Carolina Community Foundation 

North Carolina Community Foundation provides a limited number of registration fee scholarships and equipment vouchers to help children participate in NBASA soccer programs.  Specifically, this scholarship program provides assistance to youths from low income families who are not currently being served by existing programs.

Any child who meets the following eligibility criteria and currently receiving a fee waiver from a sports organization may also be eligible to apply for an equipment voucher.

To be eligible for a sports scholarship, a child must:

  • Qualify for free or reduced school lunch, or be
  • Eligible for Social Security Insurance (SSI), or be
  • Receiving assistance from one or more of the following programs:
    General relief, food stamps, foster care, Medicaid or other qualifying programs, and
  • Be of school age
  • Commit to attend at least 80% of scheduled practices and games

Priority is given to eligible youth that are a member of a multi-child family, living in a single parent home and recommended by a Department of Family Services, Craven County Schools, or Religious Community Services Social Worker.  When applying please provide the relevant information to assist us in making scholarship awards.

A scholarship application is available at NBASA’s office or can be down-loaded by clicking on the Bach Scholarship Form shown below. Completed applications should be mailed to NBASA, P.O. Box 3373, New Bern, NC 28564-3373 or delivered to our office at 403B Airport Road in James City.

To register to play soccer, go to our “on-line registration” drop-down shown elsewhere on this site.  When you register your child, please indicated  in the “Special Requests” section of the application that you are applying for a Bach Scholarship and in the “Payment Section” indicate payment will be by “check”.  We will notify you of the status of your request.
